Young Alumni Council Application

Eligibility & Responsibilities

The Young Alumni Council is composed of 42 young alumni leaders. Members serve a two‑year term with the option to renew for a third year. To be eligible, applicants must have graduated from UT Knoxville between 2016 and 2026. Completed applications must be submitted no later than Friday, May 29, 2026.

Roles and Responsibilities of Young Alumni Council members include:

Support and assist the UT Knoxville Office of Alumni Relations mission to advance the university and enrich the lives of students by engaging alumni and friends.
Serve as an ambassador, advisor and advocate for the University of Tennessee, Knoxville and the UT Knoxville Office of Alumni Relations.
Attend two in-person Young Alumni Council meetings and two online Young Alumni Council meetings each year.
Stay informed on current events at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville so that you can help the university communicate a consistent message to elevate the university’s brand.
Attend Young Alumni programs and UT Alumni Chapter events in your area and on campus when possible and encourage other alumni and friends to do the same.
Make an annual philanthropic gift of any size and to any area of your choosing to the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and encourage other young alumni to be advocates and investors for their alma mater.
Celebrate the generosity of our donors and alumni by thanking them and helping us show them the impact of their philanthropy.
Help create the next generation of alumni leaders by being involved in student initiatives when possible and involving students in Young Alumni programming.
Help recruit students to attend UT Knoxville by participating in a variety of initiatives throughout the year.
Help recruit fellow young alumni leaders to apply for the Young Alumni Council and the “Volunteer 40 Under 40” Awards Program.
Help UT enhance the quality of its data of alumni and friends in order to help us better connect with our Big Orange Family.
