Lieutenant Colonel Logan Hickman graduated from the University of Tennessee in 1980 and was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Infantry.
His leadership positions included platoon leader, rifle and headquarters company commander, assistant professor of military science, battalion operations officer, inspector general, and deputy chief of staff for operations. These assignments have included duty in Georgia, North Carolina, California, Kansas, Tennessee, Southwest Asia, Egypt, Mississippi, and Alaska.
His operational deployments include Grenada in 1983 with the 82nd Airborne Division; peace keeping duty in 1987 with the Multinational Force and Observers in Sinai, Egypt; and the Persian Gulf War in 1991 with the 1st Infantry Division. He served in the UT Army ROTC Department from 1989 to 1993. In 2002, he concluded a 22-year career in the US Army as the Professor of Military Science at Mississippi State University.
Since his military retirement, Hickman has worked in the community banking and retail pleasure boat industry. He has also donated his time to multiple non-profit organizations. Most notably, he is the founding president of the University of Tennessee Army ROTC Alumni Council. He and his wife, Johnnie, endowed a UT scholarship for an Army ROTC cadet majoring in business.
Hickman and his family live in LaFollette, Tennessee.
