Public Service
Jim Philips began volunteering at the Ada Jenkins Center in 2006 after retiring from a career as a chemist. A lifelong University of Tennessee fan who completed graduate studies there, he initially helped refurbish donated computers for families in need. Over time, his role evolved into providing in-house tech support, maintaining systems and troubleshooting issues across the Center. Nearly 20 years later, Jim remains the Center’s longest-serving volunteer—still learning and still showing up most weekday mornings to help.
