Thomas L. Sherbakoff (’81)

Colonel Lee Sherbakoff graduated from the University of Tennessee in June 1981 and was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Field Artillery.

He first served in the 25th Infantry Division in various fire support assignments. Upon completion of his assignments in Hawaii in July 1985, he transitioned to the United States Army Reserve. In 1986, he was selected to command D Company, 3d Battalion, 319th Infantry, 80th Division (Institutional Training) in Abingdon, Virginia.

Subsequent USAR assignments included duty with Knoxville’s 489th Civil Affairs Battalion. While in the Battalion, he was deployed for duty in Operation Desert Storm from December 1990 to May 1991. In March 2003, he was selected to command the 3rd Squadron, 397th Cavalry, 1st Brigade, 100th Division in Corbin, Kentucky. He later commanded the 3rd Brigade, 95th Division (Institutional Training) in Salem, Virginia.

In July 2008, Sherbakoff returned to active duty and was deployed to Iraq as Chief, Equipment Assistance Task Force, Multi-National Corps – Iraq and then as Chief, United States Army Central Support Element – Iraq, Multi-National Corps – Iraq. In July 2009, he returned to the Pentagon and was assigned as Chief, Crisis Action Team, Headquarters, Department of the Army, DCS G-3/5/7 and later as Chief, Domestic Support Division, HQDA, DCS G-3/5/7. Sherbakoff retired from the Army Reserve in May 2011.

Sherbakoff and his wife, Charla, reside in Knoxville, Tennessee. He is partner and co-owner of the Nalls-Sherbakoff Group, LLC.
