Thomas Black is a nationally recognized physician executive, entrepreneur, and three-branch military veteran whose career spans emergency medicine, health care operations, and private equity. He currently serves as Vice President of Emergency Services at Emerus Holdings, where he leads clinical strategy and physician operations for a national network of micro-hospitals—one of the largest systems of its kind in the US.
Black is also the founder and managing partner of Napali Capital, a physician-led investment firm that has executed over $1 billion in real estate and alternative asset transactions. Under his leadership, Napali was named to the Inc. 5000 list of Fastest Growing Companies for three consecutive years and was recognized as a Top 100 Company by Fort Worth Business Press in 2020 and 2021. He was named Top Entrepreneur of the Year by Fort Worth Magazine in 2021 and has been a featured contributor in Forbes magazine.
Black is proud graduate of the Haslam College of Business, where he earned his MBA. A veteran of the US Navy, Army, and Air Force, he brings a mission-driven approach to leadership and innovation. He has held executive roles in public and private health care systems, including as President of Baylor Scott & White’s 24-Hour Physician Group, where he led a major operational and financial turnaround.
Black is also the author of The Tax Cure and The Passive Income Physician, and is a passionate advocate for physician financial empowerment and wealth-building through alternative investments.
