The Big Orange Bank

Category: News

Money isn’t always green. In East Tennessee, it’s Big Orange.

At the Official Bank of the Vols, as First Horizon is known, UT debit cards come emblazoned with images of Smokey, Power Ts, and the Knoxville skyline. At its banking center on Cumberland Avenue, the bank is decorated top to bottom in orange and white, with a vinyl image of Ayres Hall on prominent display.
But this Volunteer spirit isn’t just on display, it’s actively championing UT students.

First Horizon’s deep and longstanding collaboration with the University of Tennessee spans nearly 30 years. In addition to being a major sponsor of Tennessee Athletics, First Horizon supports student scholarships and internships, including an endowed professorship at the Haslam College of Business.

“While many are accustomed to seeing ‘the Official Bank of the Vols’ on the Jumbotron in Neyland Stadium, I think we’re most proud of the financial wellness programs we offer to students,” says Dave Miller, First Horizon’s East Tennessee president. “We know that financial literacy is a critical component to these students attaining their future goals and aspirations.”
