The University of Tennessee, Knoxville, will host a tailgate contest as part of its homecoming football game against UT Martin on Saturday, October 22. Judges will visit participating tailgates around Neyland Stadium beginning four hours prior to kickoff. The winning tailgate will be selected based on food, decor, spirit, use of a theme, and atmosphere. Each category will be worth five points, and bonus points will be given to tailgates incorporating “UT Knoxville Alumni” branding.
“This is a great opportunity for Vol fans attending the homecoming game to show their spirit in creative ways while having a great time,” said Chip Bryant, vice chancellor for advancement. “Tailgating is a time-honored UT tradition and we’re excited to recognize the most eye-catching and spirited tailgate of homecoming.”
The winning tailgate will be announced one hour prior to kickoff and will be featured on social media, receive four tickets to a UT basketball game, as well as other UT-themed items. To be eligible, the tailgate should be registered by an alumnus or alumna of the university—although attendees do not have to be alumni.
