Stephanie Boomhower has dedicated immense time and service to UT, despite living in San Diego. For 24 years, Boomhower led the San Diego Alumni Chapter and organized numerous engagement and community service opportunities for UT alumni in Southern California. She served as the point of contact with UT alumni staff regarding campus initiatives and events and led UT Athletics watch parties. She led the charge for local alumni to know about UT Athletics events, Big Orange Give, New Vols Day, and Volunteering with the Vols. Boomhower also led the chapter in the creation of an alumni scholarship for students attending UT from the San Diego area.
Boomhower served on the UTAA Advisory Council from 2013 to 2015 and again from 2016 to 2018. In addition to acting as a student liaison for prospective UT students in the San Diego area, she and her husband, Matthew, have a scholarship in the College of Architecture and Design and actively mentor and support their recipients while they are at UT and beyond. As an undergraduate student, Boomhower served as a resident assistant in Strong and Greve Halls, a board member on the United Residence Hall Council, a chair on the Dean’s Advisory Council for the College of Architecture and Design, a graduate assistant for the Associate Directors of Housing, and a member of the Student Disciplinary Board.
Boomhower is the Director of Career and Professional Development Center at the School of Global Policy and Strategy (GPS), UC San Diego. She is an alumna of the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce 2018 LEAD San Diego program and holds a certificate in human resource management through UC San Diego Extension. Prior to GPS, she worked as a career advisor to MBA students at the Rady School of Management, UC San Diego and with law students at the University of San Diego School of Law.
