UT Knoxville Volunteer Leaders Social Media Agreement
This agreement acknowledges that I have been granted administrative access to one or more official University of Tennessee, Knoxville Alumni Relations social media account(s) for the purpose of engaging alumni and friends and enhancing the reputation of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
As an administrator for a university-affiliated social media account, I acknowledge that I must abide by the UT Knoxville Alumni Volunteer Leader Code of Conduct and the social media guidelines outlined below.
I understand that I represent the University of Tennessee, Knoxville in my words and actions while serving as an administrator of these accounts. I agree to use these accounts in a professional, respectful, and responsible manner and to share content that is accurate, appropriate, and consistent with the university’s mission and brand.
As an administrator, I will not post, share, comment on, or “like” content that includes:
- Illegal drug use or the inappropriate use of alcohol
- Profanity or obscene language
- Hate speech, harassment, bullying, or discriminatory remarks directed toward individuals, groups, institutions, or athletic teams
- Pornographic, sexually explicit, or sexually suggestive content, including nudity or provocative images, words, or phrases
- Political references or imagery of any type
- False or misleading information
- Confidential or private information about students, alumni, volunteers, donors, university employees, or university business
- Photos, videos, or other content of individuals without their knowledge or permission unless taken at a public event or group activity
- Content that infringes on copyright, trademarks, or other intellectual property rights
- Any content that could reasonably be viewed as damaging to the reputation of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville
Artificial Intelligence (AI)
Artificial intelligence (AI) may be used to support the content creation process but should never serve as the finished product.
The following uses of AI are not permitted for official university-affiliated social media accounts:
- Using AI-generated text as a finished product.
- Generating new images, graphics, videos, or music.
- Altering images, graphics, or videos in a way that makes them inauthentic (e.g., replacing a facial expression, adding an object that was not originally in the image, changing the words someone says in a video or voice over)
If there is any uncertainty about the appropriate use of AI-generated content, volunteers should consult their Office of Alumni Relations staff liaison before publishing.
Account Access and Administration
In the interest of transparency, continuity, and account security, I will provide the Office of Alumni Relations with the current credentials for all chapter or council social media accounts for which I serve as an administrator. I understand that the Office of Alumni Relations reserves the right to access, edit, remove content from, or revoke administrator access to accounts that do not comply with these guidelines or that may negatively impact the university’s reputation.
I will notify my chapter or council’s direct staff liaison promptly if any account credentials, usernames, or administrator access change.
