Dr. Shirley Raines is a keynote speaker, author, consultant, and leadership development trainer, best known as the first woman president of the University of Memphis, where she served for 12 years. A former teacher, Head Start director, and childcare center director, she holds a doctorate and master’s degree in education from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Inducted into the Tennessee Women’s Hall of Fame, Dr. Raines shares leadership insights in her latest book, An Uncommon Journey: Leadership Lessons from a Preschool Teacher Who Became a University President.
