Sharrie Williams, a 2001 College of Communication and Information graduate, has achieved a significant amount of success in a relatively short period of time as a news anchor/reporter.
She began her journalism career as a UT student as a founder of the Volunteer Channel and a Fox Sports Net South producer covering Tennessee athletics.
Since graduating from UT, Williams has worked in five television markets, including, Miami, Dallas, Birmingham, and Philadelphia— the fourth largest television market in the country, where she is currently a news anchor/reporter at 6ABC WPVI-TV. While serving as weekday anchor for the 4 and 10 p.m. newscasts, she has covered major events such as the first presidential debate at Hofstra University and the 2017 presidential inauguration.
Williams is also active in the Philadelphia community, where she volunteers in many community charities and groups while pursuing her passion of mentoring young girls.
