Marty Brown has three decades of experience from attending the Haslam College of Business to serving on Haslam’s Accounting and Information Management Roundtable, which all bloomed from his accounting and business administration major at UT.

Starting his career as an auditor and accountant, Brown soon stepped into leadership positions. As a Managing Principal of Consulting at the top public accounting firm in the East Tennessee region, PYA, his assessment and advising was critical in establishing new initiatives at the firm, such as: founding the marketing and creative design subsidiary, developing training programs, and instituting the Talent Acquisition Program for PYA and its affiliates. A regular guest speaker for students and graduates at UT, Brown and PYA also are top recruiters of UT students, both graduate and undergraduate.

Brown was elected by his fellow owners to serve as president of the firm in 2015. In addition to the firm gaining national recognition by being named Top 100 by INSIDE Public Accounting, it also earned a top-20 healthcare consulting firm listing by Modern Healthcare during Brown’s time with the firm. In the last two years, the firm established the Ballard Innovation Award, given to innovative companies headquartered in East Tennessee. The firm also established offices in Helena, Montana, and Charlotte, North Carolina.

While leading a firm with national recognition, Brown has served on the board and/or executive committee of numerous local charities including Habitat for Humanity, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, the Fellows Program, Florence Crittenton Agency, and the Mental Health Association of East Tennessee. Brown was a member of the 2006 Class of Leadership Knoxville.
