On a hallowed Hill in Tennessee, love has been blossoming for decades. And this February we’re celebrating the Vol couples who met on Rocky Top!
From bumping into one another at the library, to Greek life, to sitting together in class, enjoy these big orange love stories from the Volunteer family.
Cheri & John
John (’00) and Cheri (’01, ’03) met in electrochemistry class. Now their older son is a junior in the Pride of the Southland Band!
Laura & Jim
Jim and Laura met in the Pride of the Southland Band. This photo is from Valentine’s Day when Jim picked Laura up from her dorm, Clement Hall.
Susan & Buddy
Buddy (’71) and Susan (’74) met the first night of Susan’s freshman year in the corner of the library. Today they have been together for 53 years!
Chloe & Owen
Chloe (’20) and Owen (’20) met in Greek life their freshman year of college. They went to a date party together and the rest is history!
Linda & Terry
Linda and Terry met working in the Athletics Department in Stokely in 1972. They have been married for 52 years and are Vols for Life!
Melanie & Glen
Glen and Melanie met on Rocky Top in 1982 and have been together ever since!
Ashley & CJ
Ashley (’07) and CJ (’06) met right after undergraduate graduation, but they got their second degrees together on Rocky Top. They’ve been proud members of the Vol Navy for 17 years.
Ashley & Vinny
Vinny (’23) and Ashley (’23) were set up on a blind date on Rocky Top. They now have two dogs and live in Denver.
Cortney & Andrew
Cortney (’95) and Andrew (’00) began dating in 1996 when they campaigned against one another for student government. They have two children who share their love for the Vols!
Gwendolyn & Bailey
Gwendolyn (’23) and Bailey (’24) met in 2022 when her sorority partnered with his fraternity for Homecoming. They’re grateful that Tennessee brought them together!
Nicole & Alex
Nicole (’21) and Alex (’21) met in astrology class their freshman year at UT, and now are planning their wedding!
Stephanie & Philip
Stephanie (’11) and Philip (’11) met their first week at UT in 2007 and got engaged their senior year on the Gay Street Bridge.
