Nominations for the inaugural Rocky Top Business Awards are open now through August 14. The Rocky Top Business Awards recognizes the fastest-growing UT Knoxville alumni-owned or alumni-led businesses. Each spring, the award winners are recognized at a celebration event where each award-winning company learns their numerical ranking and receives their award. The Rocky Top Business Awards honors UT Knoxville’s vast network of business leaders and entrepreneurs, bringing together a like-minded group to share experiences and insights with one another.
“Rocky Top Business Awards will build a network of entrepreneurs that grows year after year,” said Chip Bryant, vice chancellor for advancement. “As well as recognizing deserving Vol businesses, we hope to encourage a community where these leaders can share their experience and lessons learned.”
The awards will honor recipients at a celebration event each year, starting in spring 2023. Anyone can nominate a deserving Vol-owned or Vol-led business. All you need is the organization name, alumni owner or leader name, and relevant email address. The award criteria are three-fold, based on longevity and revenue, alumni leadership, and character.
Once the nomination period is closed, nominees will receive an application link by email and can choose whether or not to complete the simple application form to go through the review process. The application phase will start on September 1, 2022, with a January 6, 2023 deadline. Applications will be reviewed solely by PYA, P.C., Knoxville-based accounting firm and UT partner.
