Robin B. Akin (’82)

Brigadier General (RET) Robin B. Akin graduated from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville in March, 1982 and was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Quartermaster Corps. She is the first and only female cadet commissioned by the University of Tennessee ROTC Program to have achieved the general officer rank.

BG Akin served in senior leadership positions in Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm, Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom, and Operation Unified Response. BG Akin served over 31 years in both command and staff assignments of increasing responsibility culminating as C/J-4, United Nations Command/Combined Forces Command/United States Forces Korea.

BG Akin remains committed to serving Soldiers and the nation through work in the civilian community. She was Co-creator of Boots to Heals, a non-profit organization assisting female veterans and serves as the Texas liaison to the Women in Military Service for America Memorial.
