The Cumberland Avenue digs hold a special place in the heart of alum Ben Weprin (’01), Graduate Hotels founder and CEO. “Graduate Knoxville has been a labor of love for our team, and we’re honored to have had the opportunity to create a hotel that celebrates this incredibly dynamic and proud community,” he said. “As a UT alum, I know how special this town is, and we look forward to serving as a memorable gathering place for years to come.”

Graduate Knoxville isn’t just your average hotel. Storytelling through design is fundamental to the Graduate Hotels experience, and Knoxville-specific narratives are brought to life throughout the hotel space. Inside, an orange, blue, and white palette mixes with vintage touches and unique accents honoring the Marble City. In the lobby, follow the bright chevron stripes to say “ahoy” at our shipshape front desk inspired by the Vol Navy. A cartoon gallery wall created by alum Marshall Ramsey (’91) depicts beloved UT traditions alongside black-and-white photography, sports memorabilia, and scenic views of the Smokies. In guest rooms, hidden gems such as Rocky Top- throw pillows, Smokey wallpaper, and collegiate plaid curtains create a memorable experience for UT alumni, students and travelers alike.

While you’re here, stop by Saloon 16 – our and VFL Peyton Manning’s western-inspired watering hole. The quintessentially Knoxville spot is nestled in the back of the hotel just beyond swinging saloon doors. Manning worked closely with the Graduate Hotels team to fill the space with previously unseen memorabilia from his personal collection, making the bar and restaurant the ultimate destination for Vols of all ages. Our menu offers beloved Knoxville staples like Cheese Bings, as well as an array of items named after the players, friends, and mentors that shaped Manning’s years on Rocky Top.

Since opening in early August 2020, Graduate Knoxville has become a gathering place for the Knoxville community. Bursting with Big Orange pride and plenty of Volunteer spirit, there’s something for everyone at Graduate Knoxville. Can’t wait to see you there!
