The University of Tennessee, Knoxville, is forming its fifth class of the Volunteer 40 Under 40 and seeking nominations by August 31 for exceptionally accomplished alumni professionals. Since its inception in 2021, the awards program has annually drawn together alumni representing a broad swath of fields and disciplines who have demonstrated leadership and service. The Volunteer 40 Under 40 is paired with a scholarship endowment to help future generations of students thrive.
“The Volunteer 40 Under 40 is an opportunity for the university to recognize some of the many talented UT alumni who light the way and demonstrate high levels of professional accomplishment early in their careers,” said Duane Wiles, associate vice chancellor for alumni relations. “These alumni stand out in a crowded field of exceptional Volunteers who, as a matter of course, accomplish great things at a young age. They reflect the university’s values through their spirit of service and leadership.”
With the awards program entering its fifth year, there are 160 past recipients—all embodying what it means to be a Volunteer through lasting impact on their chosen fields, communities, and society as a whole. Those selected for this year’s class will be honored at an event to be held in Knoxville on February 28, 2025.
Eligibility for the Volunteer 40 Under 40 is open to UT Knoxville alumni in good standing with a record of outstanding service to the university along with significant civic or professional achievements. Nominees must be 39 years of age or younger on December 31, 2024.
