Mike Coggin, chief accounting officer of LifePoint Hospitals Inc., and a 1991 and 1992 graduate of UT’s Haslam College of Business, returned to campus today to talk with students and receive an Accomplished Alumnus Award.

In 2008, Coggin became the senior vice president and chief accounting officer for LifePoint, which operates more than sixty hospitals in twenty states from its headquarters in Brentwood, Tennessee.
Coggin had previously served as chief financial officer of Specialty Care Services Group, a Nashville-based provider of clinical services to hospitals, and as senior vice president in the finance, accounting, and internal audit groups of Renal Care Group Inc., a provider of dialysis services to patients with chronic kidney failure.

When the Renal Care Group was acquired by German-based Fresenius Medical Care AG & Co., Coggin provided finance and accounting oversight for business units within the East Division of Fresenius North America.

Prior to 2004, Coggin was an audit manager at KPMG Peat Marwick in Nashville.

Stephen L. Mangum, dean and Stokely Foundation Leadership Chair of the Haslam College of Business, presented Coggin with the Accomplished Alumnus Award prior to Coggin’s addressing students in an Economics of Health Care class.
