Co-founder of Bridge Public Affairs, Micah Johnson is a power player in the realm of political communications.
Johnson graduated in 2010 from the Haslam College of Business with a degree in marketing and international business. As an undergraduate, she was named a Torchbearer, the highest honor a UT student can receive.
After college, she worked for former US Senator Bob Corker (’74) as an intern before becoming his communications director, senior advisor, and primary spokesperson. In her role, she oversaw communications and media strategy for Corker’s Senate office and much of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. She has been credited with raising Corker’s national and global profile as well as advancing policy initiatives including the Global Fund to End Modern Slavery and ensuring that Volkswagen added a second assembly line to its Chattanooga facility.
In January 2019, Johnson teamed up with fellow staffers from Corker’s office to found Bridge Public Affairs. The lobbying and consulting firm, which formally launched in May 2019, has offices in Nashville, Chattanooga, and Washington, DC, serving clients including Volkswagen, the Electric Power Board of Chattanooga, BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee, the Tennessee Valley Corridor, Memphis River Parks Partnership, Permobil, and Ivanti, among others. Johnson operates out of the Chattanooga office and serves as the company’s chief operating officer and senior vice president.
Johnson is a member of the university’s Alumni Board of Directors and previously served a two-year term as president of UT’s Young Alumni Council. She served on the executive board of the Senate Press Secretaries Association for three years, including one year as vice president.
Recently, she was selected to participate in the inaugural class of Leadership Tennessee NEXT, a new statewide program launched by Leadership Tennessee. She also serves as a Visiting Fellow at George Mason University’s National Security Institute at the Antonin Scalia Law School.
