Meet the Volunteers Going for Gold

Tennessee Vols are bringing big orange to the City of Light for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris! Current UT students and alumni will represent 18 different nations on the world stage and  compete in six sports: 3×3 basketball, 5×5 basketball, diving, soccer, swimming, and track & field.

The 2024 Games begin on Friday, July 26, with the Opening Ceremony and run through Sunday, August 11. You can follow along as the Vols as they compete!

The road to Paris ran through Rocky Top this year, as UT’s Allan Jones Intercollegiate Aquatic Center served as a host site for the 2024 US Olympic Team Diving Trials. In summer and winter games combined, the Volunteers have taken home 68 Olympic medals: 41 gold, 15 silver, and 12 bronze medals.

More than 30 athletes from UT hope to increase that tally this year. But no matter the outcome, these Vols epitomize the Volunteer spirit through their hard work, perseverance, and pursuit of greatness. They include Christian Coleman (’17), known as the fastest man in NCAA history, who will make his second Olympic appearance as a member of Team USA’s 4x100m relay squad.  Former Tennessee swimmer Erika Connolly (’20) holds the world record in the 4x100m relay and the American record in the 100m butterfly. She will compete as a member of Team USA’s 400m freestyle relay team. Alumna Cierra Burdick (’12), who played for the Lady Vols under Coach Pat Summit as a student, will compete in 3×3 basketball for Team USA.

Meet the full list of Volunteers competing in the 2024 Olympic Games and help us cheer them on. Let’s go Vols!
