Mark N. McDonald (’77)

COL McDonald graduated from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, in June 1977, and was commissioned as a Signal Corps second lieutenant. He received his D.M.D. degree from Oral Roberts University in 1982 and entered active duty as a Captain in the Dental Corps.

COL McDonald served in a variety of clinical positions, field dental units and command positions. He served as a Brigade Dental Surgeon with C Co, 105th FSB, 1st Brigade, 5th Infantry Division, Division Dental Surgeon with E Co, 123rd MSB, 1st Armored Division, and commanded the 673rd Medical Service Co (Dental Support) with the 82nd Medical Brigade.

COL McDonald’s service culminated by commanding three Dental Commands during the Global War on Terrorism’s Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom/Operation New Dawn. The mission of AC deployment/redeployment and RC mobilization/demobilization/reset occurred under his successive commands from 2004-2013 at the Power Projection Platforms of Ft. Campbell, KY, Ft. Benning, GA, and Ft. Stewart, GA. COL McDonald retired in 2013.

COL McDonald and his wife, Fran, reside in Louisville, Tennessee.
