Since graduating with a BS in human ecology in 2001 and an MS in early childhood education in 2002 from the College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences, Lydia Mays has made an impact on her local community as well as communities abroad.
Before establishing the See Beautiful company, Mays was an elementary school teacher and college professor. As president and CEO of See Beautiful, she has created an organization that inspires others to see their inherent beauty and spread it around the world. She has collaborated with several humanitarian and philanthropic organizations so that, with each purchase from See Beautiful, a consumer can pick an organization to support. See Beautiful has donated more than $175,000 to over 100 organizations including Girls Grow, Just One Africa, ATL Rescue Dog Café, Covenant House, New Hope Center, Helping Mamas, and Cancer Survivors’ Park.
Mays is also an author of children’s books that aim to empower and impact young people. These include The Giving Me, The Listening Me, The Patient Me, and The Long and the Short of It: A Tale About Hair. Her books have been finalists for Best Book Award from USA Book News and Indie Excellence.
She serves as an educational literary advisor with the New Hope Center and with Life Vest Inside, the Ferst Foundation, Make-A-Wish Foundation, Crohn’s and Colitis organization, and the Luke Project.
