UT Knoxville Alumni’s corporate partner, One Riverwalk Apartments sits along the Tennessee riverfront in South Knoxville. Where once stood the former Baptist Hospital, now stands a luxurious, vibrant residential community. Knoxville native Vic Mills, co-founder and CEO of Southeastern Development which owns the property, holds a personal connection to this land – his grandmother was once a cashier in the former Baptist Hospital cafeteria.

A few years ago, South Knoxville looked much different. In January 2019, the Knoxville City Council approved a multi-million-dollar project to revitalize South Knoxville and Sevier Avenue. From Alliance and Hi-Wire Breweries, South Coast Pizza and Simpl., to Everything Mushrooms, a wide-range of new local businesses are attracting people to the South Knoxville area.
The riverfront is also next door to some of East Tennessee’s finest nature parks and trails, ready to be explored. Parks like Suttree Landing Park and Baker Creek Reserve offer miles of river walks and bike trails, playgrounds, and kayak launches.
