Scholarship Thank You Letter Submission
INSTRUCTIONS
Please complete a thank you letter for the UT Knoxville Scholarship(s) you received. You only need to submit one letter. Use ## in place of your scholarship name and we will insert the name and send the same letter to each scholarship donor.
We recommend writing your thank you letter in Word or another word processing program. Then simply copy and paste into the form. Use the Thank You Letter Guidelines below to craft your letter.
The Office of Communications and Donor Experience will print the letters and mail them to your donors. If you have any questions or concerns while using the form, please contact Juliette Kesterson at jjk@utk.edu.
THANK YOU LETTER GUIDELINES
Begin and end with an expression of gratitude. Please proofread your letter. Be aware of grammatical and spelling errors by using spell check and grammar check. Most of all, tell the donor about yourself.
Things to include—
- Hometown
- Classification Year (freshman, sophomore, etc.)
- Major/Minor/Concentration
- Academic College
- What you hope to accomplish while studying at UT Knoxville
- Organizations in which you are a member or participate
- Things you enjoy at UT Knoxville
- Experience that led you to choose the University of Tennessee, Knoxville
- How the scholarship will assist you with your academic goals
- Future career plans
Your letter should be 1-3 paragraphs long (maximum of 4,000 characters).
Do not mention the value of the scholarship.
Do not include a salutation (Dear Mr./Mrs.). The Office of Communications and Donor Experience will include the proper salutation for you.
Do not use acronyms for your major or extracurricular activities unless you define what they are.
Your college should be capitalized, but your major should not. Example: I am a freshman biology major in the College of Arts and Sciences.
Do not include any closing or signature. Example: Sincerely, Juliette
