To my fellow Volunteers and all friends of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville—
As my term concludes as president of the UT Alumni Board of Directors, I find myself reflecting on what has truly been the honor of my life. As a third-generation Tennessee alumnus, serving this university and this remarkable board has been a deeply personal privilege. Orange runs deep in my family, and being entrusted to lead this group of champions for our alma mater has been a chapter I will always cherish.
This past fiscal year, our board set three ambitious priorities, and I am incredibly proud to share that, together, we delivered on each one.
1. Surpassing Our $100,000 Big Orange Give Goal
Thanks to the generosity, hustle, and Volunteer spirit of our board members, we exceeded our $100,000 Big Orange Give goal and achieved 100 percent participation among our board members. This milestone is not just a number—it represents scholarships, opportunities, and doors opened for students who will carry the UT legacy forward.
2. Supporting the Division of Student Success
We made meaningful strides in supporting the Division of Student Success and enriching the student experience through intentional alumni engagement. From mentorship to programming to direct investment, our board showed up for students in ways that will have a lasting impact, connecting the Volunteer family across generations.
3. Elevating the National Profile of the Alumni Board
We worked diligently to elevate the national visibility of the UT Alumni Board of Directors, strengthening our presence, reach, and influence beyond Rocky Top. The momentum we’ve built has strengthened the board’s reputation and will help keep Volunteers engaged across the world.
None of this would have been possible without each of you, the thousands of UT alumni, donors, and fans who support this great university. Your time and talent made this year a success, and I am endlessly grateful for the partnership, friendship, and purpose we’ve shared.
As I pass the torch, I could not be more excited to turn the reins over to Jeff Abbott (’93) as our incoming president. Jeff brings vision, energy, and a deep love for the University of Tennessee to the role, and I have no doubt he will do an amazing job leading this board into its next chapter. I’ll be right alongside all of you, cheering him and this board on every step of the way.
