Lieutenant Colonel Larry Leahy graduated from the University of Tennessee in 1972 and was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Medical Service Corps. He served in leader and command positions in platoon and company sized units.
Leahy lead clinic and support staff medical operations at Walter Reed Medical Center and Fort Hood, Texas. He served as the Army Medical Department Dental Program Officer where he engineered a profit center and productivity center for Army dentistry. He was the Program Administrator and Assistant Professor of the US Army-Baylor University Program in Health Care Administration followed by duty as the Executive Officer for the 121st Evac Hospital in Seoul, Korea. His active duty service culminated at US Army Health Services Command as Manpower Analyst. Leahy retired from active duty in 1992.
Leahy transitioned into the private healthcare industry with a focus on Homecare and Hospice services. He focused on fiscal integrity and quality patient care in a progression of successes with increasingly larger operations. In In 2014, he was inducted into the National Association for Home-care and Hospice’s Financial Managers Hall of Fame. He remains active in the health care field by serving on the Yoakum Community Hospital Board of Directors.
Leahy and his wife, Mary Jo, reside in Yoakum, Texas.
