The Latino Alumni Council and the LGBTQA+ Alumni Council of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, are excited to welcome new members this fall. The additions bring the Latino Alumni Council to 13 members and the LGBTQA+ Alumni Council to six members. Members of both councils are active contributors in their communities and exemplify the Volunteer spirit.
The Latino Alumni Council—which works to engage, motivate, and inspire UT alumni and current students—held a fall program November 2, sharing a cooking demonstration and historical event around the Mexican holiday Día de los Muertos.
The LGBTQA+ council serves to educate and inspire UT alumni and students by cultivating a culture of lifelong connection, advocacy, and philanthropy. It welcomed five new members this fall and has already begun planning activities for the upcoming academic year. During the Big Orange Give campaign in November, the LGBTQA+ council raised over $1,300 for its student scholarship.
