2019 Alumni Service Award Winner
Karen Bowling is a passionate Volunteer and a former member of the Pride of the Southland Marching Band. She graduated from the Haslam College of Business in 1994 with a major in accounting. She started her career as a manager with Arthur Andersen and moved to Deloitte & Touche in 2002, for which she currently serves as an audit and assurance partner.
Bowling has dedicated countless hours to UT, serving on the Department of Accounting and Information Management’s Accounting Roundtable, the Alliance of Women Philanthropists, and as the Deloitte liaison for student recruiting. She frequently mentors accounting students and was the keynote speaker at the Haslam College of Business’s graduate hooding ceremony in 2017. She has given generously to the university, both personally and through her firm.
In 2014, Bowling was honored as the Haslam College of Business’s Outstanding Young Alumnus and was named an Outstanding Alumnus by the Department of Accounting and Information Management.
