Lieutenant Colonel John
Skidmore graduated from the
University of Tennessee in 1974
and was commissioned as a
second lieutenant into the Field
Artillery Corps.
He served in a series of
command and staff positions of increasing responsibility in artillery
section, battery, and battalion-level units. In addition, his exceptional
abilities were instrumental for selection to key positions such as Fort
Leavenworth commanding general aide-de-camp, Department of
the Army inspector general staff, and US Army Pacific, Chief of Plans
Division, deputy chief of staff for operations.
Following his retirement from active duty in 2000, Skidmore served
in Huntsville, Alabama, as a contractor engaged in developing battle/
missile defense sensors and fire control and launch equipment software.
Returning to his native Tennessee roots, his dedication to his community
is demonstrated by his service on the Franklin County Zoning and
Planning Commission.
Skidmore and his wife, June, reside in Winchester, Tennessee.
