Jim D. Moore (’80)

Colonel Jim Moore graduated from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, in December 1980 and was commissioned as a second lieutenant in field artillery. He attended field artillery officer basic course and was assigned to the 2d Battalion, 75th Field Artillery, V Corps Artillery in Germany. He served in several staff positions and transferred into the US Army Reserve in June 1984. Then he served with the Tennessee National Guard beginning in May 1989.

Moore served as a military intelligence officer and then as a finance officer, commanding the 30th Finance Battalion, Tennessee Army National Guard from 2001-2003. Moore then served in several Tennessee National Guard Joint Force Headquarters positions. Moore returned to active duty and his career culminated as commander, agribusiness development team, Tennessee, serving in Afghanistan. After his active-duty retirement in May 2010, Moore again deployed as a civilian agriculture development advisor to the Special Operations Joint Task Force-Afghanistan in 2012-2013.

Moore’s civilian career is replete with successfully leading and managing banking and financial institutions in Georgia and Tennessee. He currently is a financial analyst in the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center. In addition, he was a member and leader in various civic organizations to include Kiwanis, Rotary, 4-H, and Future Farmers of America.

Moore and his wife, Sue, reside in Warner Robbins, GA.
