Jenny H. Boyd (’79)

Category: Alumni Service | Awards

Jenny Boyd has given time, energy, and resources to her community and alma mater. Along with her husband, Randy, she began their philanthropic involvement by supporting the Full-Service Community Schools program, which seeks to improve student educational outcomes and address the unmet basic needs of Knoxville-area students and families.

She is the founder of Boyd’s Jig and Reel, a Scottish pub in Knoxville’s Old City that is dedicated to preserving the historic ties between Scottish and Appalachian culture. She helps lead the Boyd Foundation, is a member of the UT Alliance of Women Philanthropists, and is active in numerous community boards including Young-Williams Animal Center, the Historic Tennessee Theatre, Knoxville Chamber of Commerce, East Tennessee Historical Society, the Museum of Appalachia, and Dogwood Arts.

The Boyds helped establish the Haslam College of Business’s Boyd Venture Fund for Student Entrepreneurs Endowment. Boyd’s love for animals led her to become a driving force in the founding of the PetSafe Endowed Chair in Small Animal Clinical Behavior Research at UT’s College of Veterinary Medicine. She has also led the Boyd Foundation in establishing the Tennessee Dog Park Dash, an annual program giving Tennessee communities grants to make their communities more pet friendly.
