2009 Alumni Service Award Winner

Will J. “Bill” Pugh, a proud University of Tennessee graduate, began his career with the IRS before founding Pugh and Company in 1969. While leading the firm, he dedicated 18 years to the Tennessee State Board of Accountancy, including six as chairman, and contributed to national and state accounting boards. Pugh played a key role in shaping Tennessee’s Accountancy Law, raising professional standards for future generations. His contributions earned him multiple distinguished service awards from accounting organizations. Beyond his profession, he served on numerous community boards, including the YMCA, Knoxville Chamber, and Zoo Knoxville. A true Vol for Life, Pugh has been honored with the UT Outstanding Alumni Award, the Outstanding Accounting Alumnus Award, and has established several endowments supporting students and faculty at UT.
