2019 Alumni Service Award Winner
A longtime friend of UT, J. Reginald Hill graduated from UT Martin in 1977 with a BS in business and a JD from UT College of Law in 1980.
He currently serves as the chief compliance officer at LifePoint Hospitals in Brentwood, Tennessee. In this role, Hill’s responsibilities include overseeing the ethics and compliance department for the company and compliance initiatives for the nearly 60 hospitals it operates across 20 states. Hill began his career as a judicial clerk for Judge Robert L. Taylor of the Eastern District of Tennessee in Knoxville and soon became an attorney at Waller Lansden Dortch & Davis in Nashville. He worked his way to partner and became a member of the firm’s executive committee. He served at the firm for 30 years until 2013 when he accepted his current position at LifePoint.
Hill has served on the Dean’s Circle at the College of Law for more than 15 years. He has also served on the campaign leadership committee for the Join the Journey campaign. He has previously served on UT’s Development Council, the President’s Council, the UT Martin Development Council, and the UT Martin Chancellor’s Roundtable.
Hill is a member of the Tennessee Hall Society, a group reserved for those who have given more than $1 million to the College of Law. He is also part of the Harold C. Warner Society for those who have created endowments and the Thomas J. Freeman Society for estate plans benefiting the College of Law.
He has been listed as one of the best lawyers in America and one of America’s leading business lawyers. In 2015, he received the Distinguished Alumni Award from UT Martin.
