George P. Lachicotte III (’00)

Lieutenant Colonel Trey Lachicotte graduated from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, in December 2000 and was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Infantry. After completing his initial training, he was assigned to the 25th Infantry Division (Light). In Hawaii, he served in various Infantry leadership positions.

Upon completion of the Special Forces Qualification Course, Lachicotte served in multiple Special Forces (SF) assignments to include operational detachment commander, battalion XO, company commander, battalion operations officer, special warfare planning detachment commander, and two senior staff positions within the Special Operations Command-North. During his time in service, Lachicotte deployed on four combat and five non-combat operational deployments. For these deployments, he was awarded three Bronze Star Medals and various joint level awards.

Lachicotte concluded his military career as the Department Chair and Professor of Military Science and Leadership at the University of Notre Dame. He retired in February 2022 and is currently employed as the North American Inbound Logistics Lead for Cargill’s Animal Nutrition and Health (ANH) Enterprise. He is responsible for bulk inbound logistics for 70 animal nutrition plants helping to feed over 1.5 million animals every day. Additionally, he is the ANH Co-Chair and Global Pillar Lead for Cargill’s Veteran and Military Service Network. Lachicotte is a community volunteer. He received the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal while on active duty.
