Colonel Christopher M. Ford graduated from the University of Tennessee in May 1993 and was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Ordnance Corps with a 2-year branch detail to the Chemical Corps.
He served in numerous operational units including 2nd Battalion, 7th Cavalry (Mechanized) and 115th Forward Support Battalion, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, TX; 1st Brigade, 6th Infantry Division (Light) and 172nd Support Battalion, 172nd Infantry Brigade (Separate), Fort Wainwright, AK; and 2nd Battalion, 337th Infantry Regiment 85th Division (Training Support), Selfridge Air National Guard Base, Michigan.
Colonal Ford transitioned to the Army Acquisition Corps in 2003. His acquisition assignments included Assistant Product Manager (APM) Fire Control and Communications, APM Force Integration, and APM Developmental Test, Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) Project Office, Missile Defense Agency; Chief, Materiel Fielding Team, Materiel Fielding and Training Directorate, TACOM LCMC; Operation Enduring Freedom Theater Lead, PM Crew Served Weapons, PEO Soldier, Bagram, Afghanistan; Deputy Director, Materiel Fielding and Training Directorate, TACOM LCMC; Executive Officer, PEO Ground Combat Systems; Training With Industry Officer, EADS North America; and Product Manager, THAAD Ground Components, Missile Defense Agency. During COL Ford’s final assignment in the military, he served as the Project Manager, Ground Based Interceptor in the Missile Defense Agency.
Colonel Ford retired from the United States Army on September 30, 2020, after serving 27 years of military service. He is currently the Program Management Director for Operations and Sustainment on the Next Generation Interceptor program at Lockheed Martin in Huntsville, Alabama.
Ford and his wife, Melissa, live in Madison, Alabama.
