Charles F. Brakebill was a pivotal figure in the University of Tennessee’s development efforts, serving as the institution’s first full-time fundraising officer in 1962. A 1948 UT graduate, he played a crucial role in expanding private contributions, helping grow the university’s endowment from $1 million to over $210 million. His dedication and leadership significantly advanced UT’s development, alumni affairs, and annual giving programs, positioning the university among the top public institutions in fundraising. A retired Air Force officer and former sales manager, Brakebill brought a strong work ethic and strategic vision to his role. His contributions left a lasting impact on UT, shaping its financial growth and donor engagement for decades.
