2015 Alumni Professional Achievement Award Winner
In a career spanning 39 years, Keith Boswell has established himself as a leader in the architectural profession and one of the most influential architects, worldwide, in high-performance building facade systems. In 2013, his international prominence was demonstrated by the publication of his book, Exterior Building Enclosures: Design Process and Composition for Innovative Facades.
He graduated from the College of Architecture and Design in 1980. Soon after, he joined Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, one of the most distinguished architectural and engineering firms in the world. He is now a partner focusing on architectural technical design firmwide. Located in SOM’s San Francisco office, he orchestrates and oversees detailed design and construction documentation for projects across the globe, including high-rise office and residential buildings, government projects, academic buildings, museums, retail spaces, and airport terminals and concourses.
He has provided technical design leadership for more than 20 award-winning projects, from the San Francisco International Airport to the US Embassy in Beijing.
In 2012, he was elevated to Fellow of the American Institute of Architects, an honor given to just 2 percent of registered architects.
He is a past chair of the College of Architecture and Design’s Board of Advisors, where he distinguished himself as a passionate advocate for the college.
