Brannon Costello is the Barbara Womack Alumni Professor and James F. Cassidy Professor of English at LSU, specializing in southern and comics studies. He is the author of Neon Visions: The Comics of Howard Chaykin and Plantation Airs, and co-editor of several volumes including Comics and the U.S. South. His current research explores Swamp Thing through ecocriticism and southern studies. A recipient of the Richard Updike Distinguished Undergraduate Teaching Award, Costello also serves as Associate Editor of Inks: The Journal of the Comics Studies Society and has published widely in leading academic journals.
