Amy Miles has said that she had no idea that her career would take the trajectory it has when she graduated from the Haslam College of Business with a BS in accounting in 1989.
At the start of her career, Miles spent 10 years at Deloitte Touche, one of the “Big Four” accounting organizations in the world. She then endeavored on a nearly 20-year career at Regal Entertainment Group, the largest theater operator in the world, beginning as senior vice president of finance, followed by CFO, and finally as director and CEO until the company was sold to Cineworld Group PLC in February 2018. Today, she serves as an independent director and audit committee chair for Norfolk Southern, one of the largest freight rail operators in the United States.
With her unique expertise, Miles serves on the board of the Norfolk Southern Corporation and has previously served on the boards of Townsquare Media, Radio Systems, Digital Cinema Implementation Partners, and National Cinemedia. She is also a member of the UT Board of Trustees, serving as chair of the audit and compliance committee.
Miles received the Haslam College of Business Distinguished Alumnus Award in 2013 and generously shares her time and talents as a member of the college’s Dean’s Advisory Council and Alliance of Women Philanthropists. She is also a member of the college’s Archway Society and an avid supporter of UT athletics.
She and her husband, Dan (’88), have two sons, Connor, a two-time Haslam College of Business alumnus, and Nick, who graduated in 2016 with a BS in supply chain management from the Haslam College of Business.
