YA GUIDE
The Young Alumni Guide is a central resource for fresh UT graduates looking to gain a foothold in the "real world." From contact information for UT departments like Career Services and the Office of Alumni Affairs to handy charts to help folks get a grip on their finances, the YAG will no doubt earn a central place on the bookshelves and hard drives of future grads. We've posted the complete Guide below, divided into sections for faster downloading.
Section 1: Careers ![]()
"Here's some initial advice: Whether you're job hunting or you've already secured a first position, now is probably a good time to take down some of those "questionable" Facebook pictures."
Section 2: Housing ![]()
"A lot of people say there's no shame in moving back in with your parents after you graduate... Those people are wrong...
So, now that we all agree you need a place of your own, let's talk about how to go about finding it, affording it, and getting it set up like you want it."
Section 3: Finances ![]()
"There's nothing sexy about budgeting. But there's also nothing sexy about being in debt up to your eyeballs, so you're going to have to do it."
Section 4: Insurance ![]()
"When you're 22, totally healthy, and pretty broke, it's easy to see how you could think health insurance is a luxury that you can do without. Unfortunately, you are wrong."
Section 5: Life as an Alum ![]()
"Are you overwhelmed with your life in the Real World yet?
Don't be. Although a lot of people probably told you that your college years were supposed to be "the best years of your life," the fact is your college years are really just a dress rehearsal for the best years of your life."
