PRIDE OF THE SOUTHLAND REUNION
140th Celebration Wrap-up
On Friday, Nov. 6, a tradition of excellence was honored.
Alumni from eight states attended the 140th Celebration of the Pride of the Southland Band. They came together to celebrate a great legacy and to share their own perspective on how the Pride of the Southland has so positively impacted their lives.
Attendees enjoyed the remembrances via photographs provided by band alumna Betty Myers, the band video history, and touching comments by Bill Williams, David Keith, Bob Kesling, and Bruce Pearl.
After paying tribute to Bobby Osborne and the origin of “Rocky Top,” the grand finale—a performance by the current Pride of the Southland Band—blew everyone way.
“The tuba floral arrangement displayed as band alumni, friends, and guests descended the steps was beautiful and set the atmosphere for the evening, similar to the ambiance found in honoring royalty,” said one celebration attendee who traveled all the way from Seattle, Wash.
The evening was an ideal way for alumni and friends to celebrate past memories and look forward to an exciting future for the Pride. Alumni are already anticipating the next celebration!
