Homecoming weekend, November 6-7, is shaping up to be another great weekend filled with reunions, celebrations, laughs, and great times for memories. On Friday night, we will be entertained by our own UT alum and nationally known comedian, Leanne Morgan. Her down home humor and magnolia ways will tickle our collective funny bone. Wendel Werner will entertain us with his humorous look at the history of Rock ‘n Roll. Join us at the Square Room on Friday, November 6 for this event.
Several reunions will be held over Homecoming weekend, and we hope we have an event to bring all alums back to campus. Here are a few highlights!
Homecoming Parade
Friday, Nov. 6, 4pm
The Homecoming parade begins at the Rock, at the corner of Volunteer Boulevard and Pat Head Summitt Street, and travels east on Volunteer. Alumni groups celebrating reunions are invited to participate, and everyone is invited to watch the festivities! Arrive early for the best viewing spots.
140th Celebration of the Pride of the Southland Marching Band
Friday, Nov. 6, 5:30pm
Join fellow Pride alumni, spouses, friends, and fans to celebrate 140 years of one of the most prestigious college marching bands in the country! Presented by the Band Alumni Board, the event will feature a social hour, dinner, and entertainment—including the Pride of the Southland Marching Band. The event will take place at the Knoxville Marriott, 500 Hill Ave. SE. Cost is $45 per person, $25 for students (25 and younger).
“Friday Night Live” at the Square
Friday, Nov. 6, 7:30pm
Start Homecoming weekend with a laugh! Nationally known comedienne (and UT alumna) Leanne Morgan will entertain with her Southern humor and hilarious storytelling. Also appearing is Wendel Werner, director of the UT Singers, who will offer his own humorous history of rock ‘n’ roll—and explain just how much better the genre would be if it had started in Knoxville instead of Memphis! “Friday Night Live” will be presented at one of Knoxville’s newest performance venues, The Square Room, at 4 Market Square in downtown Knoxville. Cost is $18 per person, which includes snacks, and a cash bar will be available.
Party in the Park
Saturday, Nov. 7, 3 hours before kickoff
Head over to Circle Park to enjoy the pep band, cheerleaders, music, door prizes, face painting, games for the kids, and much more! Party in the Park is free and open to all, but if you’d like to enjoy barbecue and all the fixin’s, advance reservations and payment are required. Cost for the BBQ tailgate is $12 per person, $8 per child (10 and younger).
Special guests scheduled to appear at the Party in the Park include 8-time National Champion Coach Pat Head Summitt and Jay Bush & Duke! Will Duke reveal the secret recipe? Find out between 4 and 5pm in Circle Park!
