PURPOSE & STRUCTURE
PURPOSE
One of the critical needs of colleges and universities everywhere has always been greater public understanding and support. To help develop such understanding and support for the University of Tennessee, a group known as The Chancellor’s Associates was established in 1972.
Since its formation, the Chancellor’s Associates has played a vital role in being involved, informed, and willing to assist in articulating to the greater Knoxville area the mission, vision, goal, and plans of the University of Tennessee. The group meets monthly with UT administrators to learn as much as possible about the rich and diverse program offerings at UT. This is the key group in providing a linkage between UT and its many external constituents in the greater Knoxville area. The active interest and support of these men and women have been largely responsible for the climate of good will that now exists between the University and the public - a climate highly conducive to the simultaneous growth of the University of Tennessee and the Knoxville community.
STRUCTURE
Chancellor’s Associates serve three-year terms. There are approximately 20 Associates in each class, bringing the total membership to approximately 60.
