SCHOLARSHIPS

2007 – 2010 Black Alumni Scholar

Every four years an African-American student is selected to receive the Black Alumni Scholarship. In 2007 Toyree Wright became the recipient of the scholarship and earned the title of “Black Alumni Scholar." She will receive a stipend for four years.

Toyree is a junior in Nursing from Memphis, TN. She is the Vice President of Love United Gospel Choir. She says this provides an opportunity to sing and help bring hope through ministry to UT’s campus. She is a member of the Minority Achievement Program, which helps transfer and freshmen minority students adjust to campus life. She is also involved in the Minority Student Nursing Organization, which focuses on the recruitment and success in nursing school for nursing students.

She notes she has enjoyed her time at UT and has made a sincere attempt to make a difference on campus and excel in her education so that she can take her experiences and what she has learned to a higher level in her future.
