The Foundation of the Black Alumni
The Black Alumni organization was created September 1, 1984 to encourage black involvement in university affairs by participating in the alumni association programs and activities; developing programs of special interest to black alumni, faculty, staff and students; encouraging awareness of their concerns; recruiting minority students and promoting greater financial participation by black alumni.
On November 1, 1985 an endowment and scholarship fund was established. The fund provides scholarships for black students and exemplifies the type of commitment the alumni have to education. Many African American students attending the university have benefited from these scholarship resources.
